Managed to get it scaled, leveled on stands, interior pulled out, roll and the bar removed. Now let's start the weight loss, mini tub, 10pt chromoly cage, front suspension, and narrowing the rear for 15x12 rims with a 3" back spacing....
Only got a few hours on the Malibu today! Had to go to urgent care to get this throat shit looked at......5 hrs later I'm at work, Ugh...
But I did get the frame outta the way to modify and make it easier to cut for the mini tubs..... So until tomorrow!
Got the rear end on the jig, and ready to cut it down! Also got the factory tubs cut away, gotta clean them. This tear apart stage is always time consuming, but it all works out in the end....... see ya tomorrow!
Wheel tubs are completely trimmed out, new inner tubs are mocked up!
Cutting weight and adding some stiffening braces for the inner tub.
The new tubs are slightly higher to lower the car more for better handling down the track.
Axles are out being cut down, time to cut the housing down to size. Next week a lot of the new parts should be here, and then the real fun begins. Modifying the frame for the 15x12 rims, new TBC upper and lower rear control arms, with Strange coil overs. Front TBC upper and lower control arms also outfitted with Strange coil overs. New TBC 10pt chromoly cage. Last will be the custom built headers!
Jenn and I are up and at it early in the morning for Charlotte for the NHRA races, Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Mods and Pro Stock........ See ya Monday!
Today was one of those you can't rush shit kinda of days...... Wheel tubs!
Still gotta cut the drivers side, but the template is done! So both should be done in the morning, then frame work begins.....
Tubs are in, a little welding but 90% done. Rear end is cut down, gotta set the jig, weld the housing ends back on in the morning.
The frame should be cut down tomorrow, should be able to set the rearend and begin building the control arms...... Keep working...
So to keep the stock control arms. I took 3" per side add outta the frame..... Now we have a clean slate to work with! Parts finally showing, so progress should pick up...
The weld here is the support brace added to the rear end
Just gotta weld the upper control arm brackets on, then hang the rear end! Add the upper coil over bar, then start the cage.....
A little panorama view of today's work! Crossbar for the anti-roll bar installed, hoop, and the bars going back thru the speaker panel attaching to the anti-roll bar!
Josh got the front suspension tore down. And begun to machine the cross bar for the upper control arms!
Josh's handy work hand machining the upper cross bars.
Super light TBC control arms underway....
Done.......
